What have we been discussing?
BBQ Facilities at MacNaughton Park
The City of Joondalup has installed new barbecue facilities at MacNaughton
Park. This comprises a barbecue and picnic seating with shade shelter.
This has been placed by the car park area. The BBQ is available for your enjoyment.
The KRA has been extremely instrumental in the planning and discussions of the provision of the BBQ with the City of Joondalup.
Portuguese millipedes
reported by some residents
Installations of sodium lights at Tamala by Transfield had been confirmed by the end of April 2011. This should encourage the millipedes
to remain on MRC land at Tamala Park.
Thanks to a resident the Mindarie Regional Council installed a trial fence around the affect
area back in April 2010. The MRC are now (April 2011) in the process of extending this fencing further.
These millipedes are not unique to Kinross or Western Australia. Check out the following link on their proliferation around South Australia and how to deal with them.

Currambine Railway Station
It has been noted that recently the car park at the railway station has been completely full by 7.45am each working day.
It was not fully understood why this seems to have suddenly become a problem.
Albert Jacob has announced that there are plans afoot to boost the car parking spaces by 120.
At the November public meeting a resident raised the question of why there is no bus link between Kinross and the train station.
Freeway extension
There are many tens of thousands of residents living north of Kinross, and they need to drive through and around Kinross to get there.
There has been much discussion over the traffic congestion along Burns Beach Road and Connolly Drive and the intersection.
This congestion is also seriously impacting traffic leaving Currambine Station from Sunlander Drive, especially for those commuters turning right across Burns Beach Road.
On 23rd September 2011 the KRA met Premier Colin Barnett and Albert Jacob to present their case for the extension of the freeway. Colin was not aware of the problems that the local community had been facing.
He mentioned of the possibility of fast tracking the extension to Hester Avenue by including the flyover across Burns Beach Road in a later phase. This would certainly take the traffic beyond Kinross and Burns Beach Road.
The KRA previously lobbied the then Transport Minister (Simon O'Brien) in April 2010 who came to experience the congestion for himself. (08/04/2010)
Skate Park (CCTV)
CCTV has been installed on the southern precinct of MacNaughton Park. Many thanks to Albert Jacob and the City of Joondalup for committing the funding.
Click here for a recent communication from Tom McLean of the City of Joondalup regarding the confirmation for grant funding for the CCTV.
